Both Tyler and I watched Tom and Jerry growing up, but the girls just a few episodes here and there, since they mainly watched Disney Junior as young children. We continually saw the movie preview for it and since we still had HBO Max, why not make it a themed dinner. We also invited a couple of the neighborhood kids to watch with us. This movie was liked by all and the girls even watched it again the next day. It was funny and they did a good job of combining live action with cartoon.

Since this movie has both a mouse (Tom) and a cat (Jerry), we decided our dinner had an option for either animal. We served tuna melts or grilled cheese. All the kids actually choose grilled cheese, no surprise there! We thought Juliet would want the tuna melt as she likes tuna, but not tonight. So the only one who had it was Tyler.

I also had an appetizer of Hair Balls, which were actually Mac and cheese balls. The kids thought it was funny and Laughed pretty hard about the name! Each child dis tried it, but most didn’t finish them. The adults thought they were tasty though!

Tyler was really set on having this mix of Peanut Butter and Jelly drink for us adults. I thought it sounded awful so I didn’t have any and didn’t take a picture (sorry). But Tyler found a sample of both of those flavors in vodka, but the drink turned out really awful, enough for Tyler not to even finish it. I settled on our take of a Tom Collins, only because the name was well suited. We used gin, limoncello La Croix, fresh lemon juice and topped it off with a cherry. It was rather tasty as I have becoming to like gin more and more. For the kids, we just have them cherry 7 Up with an extra cherry!

For the dessert I made The Chase Cheescake. Since the movie took place in New York, I stuck with a New York style cheesecake. I also made them in our mini pie pans, so everyone had their own. Jules helped with the homemade graham cracker crust and I think it gets better every time I make it. Since cheesecake is not everyone’s favorite, some kids ate it while others took a bite. It could have presented it a little better too, oh well!
