This is the last theme dinner we did in 2020. Mostly because I took a weekend off to do Juliet‘s birthday mermaid cup cake and then the following week was actual Christmas. We have plenty of theme dinners to do in the New Year, so don‘t fret! As I said in the last theme, there are quite a few Holiday movies the girls haven’t actually seen and The Santa Clause series was one of them. So let’s have some more holiday fun and dive into this theme dinner.

This was another dinner where the actual main meal was quite hard to come up with. We settled on the scene in the movie where Scott burns the Christmas dinner so he and his son end up eating at Denny’s. There aren‘t many Denny’s around, but one of the things I always think about when Denny’s is mentioned is the GrandSlam. So we made our own GrandSlam, which consisted of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links (for the non-vegetarian/non pig eater) and toast.

Both the drink and the dessert revolved around Santa and what he likes. We made some hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows. The girls also had a peppermint spoon for some extra flavor. For the adults, we added some Baileys and Kahlua. It was warm, creamy and chocolatey, just the way Santa would have liked it!

What is the one sweet that Santa really likes and is mentioned throughout the movie? Chocolate Chip cookies of course! We made our cookies from scratch and they turned out very good. It was a new recipe that I found and they weren’t the ooey gooey chocolate chip cookies I like, but satisfying enough. Especially with some cold milk!

Hope everyone had a good Holiday and the New Year brings you happiness abs health! Thanks for being on this journey of themed dinners with us and comment below what we should do next year!
