This family is more in th Marvel fan base, but we do like to watch DC movies when they come out. If you look through the website at other theme dinners, we have done a couple of DC movie night themed dinners in the past: Wonder Woman and Black Adam. We actually really enjoyed this movie, especially the cameo of the original Batman- Michael Keeton. It was action packed, funny and quirky at the same time. It's unfortunate that they are revamping the DC universe as I think they have casted some of the perfect superheroes, including The Flash.

We had to do a little research on this movie in order to come up with the hardest part of the theme dinner, the main dish. While we searched, the food that was common in this movie was spaghetti. There is a scene in the movie where he actually is making the aforementioned dinner with the original Batman. It is also the dinner his mom is mom is preparing when they show how she dies (spoiler alert). The other option was a breakfast sandwich made with peanut butter, banana, raisin, honey, and cheese on a roll that he eats in the movie to give him energy. I knew the girls would not go for that, so we went with spaghetti as our theme dinner. Spaghetti is always a winner with two children, so it was eaten. I will say I do like when everyday meals can be used for theme dinners.

The Flash has a costume that consists of two colors, red and yellow. So we tried to make our drink to have both of those colors. We looked up a drink where you can have separation of the two colors based on weight of the liquids. So we again tried that for this drink and had Cranberry juice, Orange Juice, Coconut Water (and rum for the adults). It worked somewhat but did taste delicious.

The dessert was again to pay homage to the Flash's color scheme and more specifically his logo in the movie. Kyrie was the baker and decorator on this, and she had lots of fun! When baking, she did originally use the red dye in the wrong step and had to make another batch as the first didn't turn the right color. But she made red velvet cake cookies with a yellow lightning bolt on top. Despite the lightning bolts being a little wonky, they did turn out delicious! And doing these theme dinners, does allow them to experiment in the kitchen (with us as supervisors).
