As a child of the 80s, this movie was nostalgic for both Tyler and I. We both grew up on this video game and I actually secretly liked the live action movie in the 90s. So we were highly anticipating watching this movie with the girls. Overall, the movie was cute and we all especially liked how Peach is a formidable female throughout the movie! There were also some good, funny moments. We also had fun doing this themed dinner and as per the norm, not everything we plan turns out like we are professional chefs or bakers, but the girls have fun making it!

If you live under a rock and didn't know this, sorry to tell you but Mario and Luigi are Italian! We went with a popular choice and made Luigi's Linguine along with some "fireballs", aka meatballs. Super easy and pasta is always a win . To add a fun side, we made a Fire Flower veggie platter! Again for those who have lived under a rock and don't know what that is, it is a flower that allows the brothers to shoot fireballs in the video game.

Our drink was Peach's Iced Tea. We made it a bit more fun by adding some frozen peach star pops that we made. We chopped up some little pieces of peaches and froze it along with some peach tea in a star mold. Girls thought they were super cool! Plus it made them go into Super Mario as if they just got their own star in the video game!

For the dessert, we made Toad cupcakes. We used a boxed cupcake mix instead of making them from scratch. We did make the buttercream from scratch though and dyed some of it red. We frosted the cupcake with white and then added some red spots for our Toad. Finished it up with drawing a little face on them with edible markers. They turned out a little messy, but they were still delicious and resembled Toad!
