Riverdance: St.Patrick’s Day

There was a movie that popped up around March on Netflix called Riverdance and I thought we should do a theme on this and watch it for St.Patrick’s Day! The movie was cute with lots of Irish music and the movie had a lot of that in it! So, it made me happy. I think we even watched the original Riverdance to show them what the movie was based on right after the movie. Our theme ideas though weren’t specific to the movie, but more generally for St.Patrick’s Day, so you can do this just for the holiday itself.

I love, love, love, Guinness Beef Stew, and we haven’t had it during the wintertime yet, so that became our themed dinner meal! I do just a bit of prepping/cooking with the beef prior to adding it to the crockpot, but the crockpot does most of the work. I also add carrots and potatoes, but the (obvious) secret ingredient is Guinness Beer. The girls usually enjoy it and again I always like when I don’t have to do much of the cooking.

I didn’t try to make it, but I found some Irish soda bread at the store as we did this movie right around the St. Patrick’s Day holiday. I think bread always pairs well with the stew and in this case we went with a known Irish bread. Tyler and I really liked this, but the girls didn’t.

We decided to combine our drink and dessert into one on this theme (even though I might had a Guinness earlier, what you can’t just buy one beer)! We had a very delicious mint chocolate chip milkshake or a knock off of the Shamrock Shakes you can get at McDonalds during this time. We also added whipped cream and a cherry! I think everyone enjoyed this one as they were consumed rather fast.
