I swear Disney just one ups themselves on each new animation movie they put out! Raya and the Last Dragon was no exception- it was such a good movie. The characters have depth, growth and always a good message, in this movie it was for world harmony! And Akwafina‘s Sisu (the actual last dragon) added just the right bit of humor! I do recommend watching this movie.

So the movie takes place in a fictional world of Kumundra, but it is based off of Southeast Asia. So what better than to try some cuisine from there. We have a local Thai place that we go to- it’s typically just Tyler and me. But we looked into some food items from there that we thought the girls would like. We had some Spring rolls, Edamame, Chicken Satay, Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and a side of shrimp. The edamame and spring rolls are tried and true menu items for the girls, so this part went over fine. We had them try the Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles, but it was a no go! But Jules did gobbled up the shrimp (we found out she loves shrimp from a previous theme dinner) And Kyrie ate the Chicken Satay. We will keep having them try other items as we continue to go there, but overall it was a success!

We also got dessert from there - the mango sweet sticky rice. I have never tried it, so nothing better than to try something new for a theme dinner! Kyrie, who is adamant about not liking coconut, wouldn’t even try it even though there was mango in it. The rest of us enjoyed it though!

Even though we didn’t make the dinner or dessert on this theme, which sometimes we do, we did make our drink! We called it the Last Dragon and it was orange juice, Lychee and a pineapple rum that we still had at the house. Since our cocktail liquor seems to have grown, we like to use whats on hand! The girls had the orange juice and Lychee only. Since we started the theme directly from them playing outside with friends, the drink was really refreshing for them!

This was another fun theme that got the girls out of their comfort zones with food. Tell me what your thoughts are on Raya and the Last Dragon and if you liked it as much as we did!
