Migration

Jules has been asking for months to see this movie in the theatre. We never ended up making it, so I said we will do a theme dinner when it comes out on streaming. We had no expectations on the movie, and it didn't disappoint. It was about a family of ducks and their adventures while migrating. I think it could also be a metaphor for getting out of your comfort zone and going on an adventure! This movie definitely had comedy and was written pretty well.

One of the first things that came to mind when we were thinking on what to do for this dinner, we came up with how birds like their worms! So after some thought on how to incorporate “worms” into a meal, without Tyler’s suggestion of actual worms, we decided we could grill some onions to make them our "worms". Then we add them to a burger to have a "worm" burger! The girls weren't for it, but I love grilled onions on my burger, so I thought it was delicious. They did enjoy the burgers sans "worms". We also had Mack's Mac and Cheese named after the dad duck in the movie. We made this mac and cheese from scratch and the girls were also not a fan. They only like mac and cheese out of a box, not the yummy cheesy homemade kind!
Tyler thought up our drink and called it Bird Poop Shot. It looked perfectly worse than it tasted! It was a vanilla milkshake mixture with a dallop of Nutella on top in a shot glass. The girls loved it, however, thought it was a small amount and wanted more, so maybe they aren’t great ducks with thier snubbing worms but devouring bird poop.

Even though in the movie, the duck's nest was more of a burrow in a tree trunk, I still found a fun easy bird nest dessert. I got chocolate chips and peanut butter chips then melted them together. Kyrie helped on this by breaking pretzel sticks in half and then pouring the melted chocolate peanut butter over the pretzel sticks. She then took the cholate covered pretzel sticks and made mini nests with them. In each nest, we got chocolate covered mini eggs and placed a few in each nest. Then it was placed in the fridge to cool and harden. I am a huge fam of chocolate covered pretzels, so I loved these! I especially like that it had a slight peanut butter taste since we used some of those chips.
