Legally Blonde

I am all about showing movies with characters who have strong, powerful, self-confident women to my children and Elle Woods from Legally Blonde showcases this. I mean yes it starts with her following a guy into law school and there are a couple of "blonde" moments in the movie (and maybe a mean girl). But it also shows how brave, and a hard worker as well as how passionate she is. Girls ended up loving the movie and then we proceeded to watch the second one, but they thought the first was better.

The main dinner was really hard to come with for this theme. I looked for ideas that had to do with sororities and law and couldn't really find anything that worked. I ultimately, decided on doing on Elle and Warner...I mean Elle and Emmett Forever Charcuterie Board. Elle is pretty fancy throughout this movie living in Beverly Hills and then ending up at Harvard for law school, so a charcuterie board seemed fancy. I tried to also incorporate as much pink items into the board as well, since we all know Elle loves her pink! We created a main meat and cheese board as well as a fruit board. Kyrie enjoyed making the meat roses as well as using a cutter to make some of the cheese into heart shapes. We also had a guest join us, so her addition of some of the cheeses were perfect! Overall, super successful and as I continue to think about this, I think a charcuterie board works really well for the theme!

Our drink was of course the Bend and Snap! If you know the movie, there is a scene where Elle teaches some ladies at the nail salon basically how to pick up a man. For this drink, we mixed vodka, pomegranate juice and ginger ale. It turned out a pretty pink and was actually pretty good! For the girls, we got some pink lemonade in order to match the color of our drink. They of course loved it!

The dessert was some delicious Legally Blondies! Blondies are basically brownies, but you use brown sugar instead of cocoa powder. We made these from scratch and even though I followed the recipe time, they were not baked thoroughly and ended up taking forever. However, they were worth the wait and I could have eaten the whole dish. Crunchy on the outside, but just enough gooey on the inside. Everyone else thought the same and we all gobbled it up!

Even though it was hard to come up with an actual meal, I actually really think the Elle and Emmett Forever Charcuterie Board was perfect! And once the Legally Blondies got baked the right amount, they were delicious! The girls have watched this movie a couple of times since this theme, so they obviously like the movie! Hope you enjoyed reading about this theme night dinner.
