It’s always fun to show the girls movies that mom and dad watched as children. I remember them being a lot better as a child and this was probably one of them. Plus Tyler wanted to do something with the Friday the 13th we had in August and it was quite hard to find something not to scary for the girls. So we ended on Labyrinth. Tyler, I don’t think has ever even watched this one either- so new for all! This movie did keep the girls engaged more than some of the other “oldies” we have watched. I think the Jim Henson muppets helped too and maybe some of the David Bowie music! The muppets were certainly entertaining! Well let’s get into this theme as I think it turned out fun and easy!

So I mentioned easy and well dinner was that! Later in the movie, Sarah and the others walk through the city where there are a ton of chickens running around. So there you have it, chicken was the meal! And even easier, I bought a roasted chicken from the grocery store- so no cooking involved!

If you have seen the movie, Jareth the Goblin King try’s to stop Sarah from her quest to save her baby brother (who she had wished the Goblin King to take) and enchants a peach. Sarah eats this peach and it puts her in a dream state, a very weird dream state with a masquerade ball and profession of love! I said weird, right? Anyways we made our own Peach Goblinis! We used peach juice, sparkling wine, peach snapps and some rum. The girls had peach juice and sprite! This drink was a winner and very tasty!

Someone at work started my idea for the dessert and reminded me of a part in the movie. In the movie, they pass through this Bog of External Stench which bubbles and smells And of course the girls thought this was funny! So we made our own Bog by making a chocolate cobbler! Basically a gooey cake and the girls really seemed to like it, plus it was super simple to make. The key is adding the boiling water right before you bake it, so it gets all gooey!

I hope you enjoyed our Friday the 13th movie themed dinner. Comment below if you like the movie Labyrinth.
