Inside Out 2 was a highly anticipated movie for children this past summer. Both girls ended up seeing it with their summer camps and one enjoyed it very much while the other was embarrassed, which was fitting since one of the new emotions in Inside Out 2 was Embarrassment! I thought the sequel was cute and while my daughter is in the age of puberty with lots of embarrassment and ennui, I related with anxiety! They showcased all the emotions perfectly and how emotions can be complicated throughout your life. This movie also resonates as a parent, as I think it helps discuss emotions with your children.

Even though they introduced new emotions in the sequel, we based our meal on an emotion in the first movie, Disgust. During that movie, there is a scene after moving to SF where they order pizza, and it ends up being a broccoli pizza. I have never tried broccoli on my pizza so I figured this would be a perfect time to try it. We bought a frozen California Pizza Kitchen White pizza, and we added broccoli to it. The girls had to try a bite and of course, they thought it was, disgusting. As Anger stated in that scene mentioned above, "Thanks SF for ruining pizza!", my girls would completely agree. As a backup, we made a homemade pepperoni pizza, and they ate that without any problem!

For our drink, we had the girls choose a lemonade flavor from a few that I picked that could represent one of the emotions. Jules chose Ocean Blue for Sadness, while Kyrie chose Southern Peach for anxiety. For the adults, we made our Joy drink. It was a combination of limoncello and Prosecco. We don't do this often with our drinks, but we did a blue sugar rim to finish the drink. It was en-Joy-ed, and I would make this again!

Our dessert was emotional as well! One thing that comes to my mind for this movie is the memory orbs that are colored based on the emotion during that memory. I picked up these colorful gumballs that had the most colors for the emotions including some of the new ones in the movie. I bought premade cupcakes with white frosting to make it a little easier. Then the girls choose some "emotions" that represented them and add them to the cupcake. I felt it turned out fun and the girls enjoyed it being a little interactive.
