This weeks theme had me longing to be in Hawaii and looking forward to our trip at the end of the year! I am hopeful that the US will be on the right track with COVID and traveling along with being comfortable around other people when traveling. Finding Ohana is another movie we saw pop up on Netflix and is about adventure and geocaching in Hawaii. My mom, the girls Gam Gam, loves to geocache and Pre-COVID took the girls a lot on these fun adventures. So this movie was very close to home and of course it was set in Hawaii, so enjoyable!

If you remember correctly, our first themed dinner was Hawaii and we made BBQ pulled pork sandwiches. So we did do pork again, but made tacos instead as I wanted to do something a little different! I decided to do this is the crockpot and the pork turned out FANTASTIC! We could not stop eating it and the sad thing is I can’t find that recipe again. I also found these sweet Hawaiian tortillas and it tied in perfectly. Even though guacamole didn't go with our themed meal, the girls love it and especially on tacos. So Tyler made his famous guacamole and it was gobbled up!

One thing I always associate with Hawaii is pineapples. So I looked up another recipe to make a dessert for this theme. I came across a pineapple poke cake and it seemed easy enough. Well I somehow managed to mess this up! I think I let the vanilla/pineapple pudding set too long and it didn’t actually fill my poke holes. I also didn’t have a wooden spoon to make the pokes, so I improvised and found something laying around. I don’t think the holes were big enough for the pudding to go into the holes. This cake was not a winner for the girls and they barely finished their piece.

There is nothing better than sitting on the beach in Hawaii while sipping a Mai Tai! So that is what we made for our adult drinks, refreshing Mai Tais! We even picked up a new Pineapple Rum to use in this drink and it was delicious! The girls had an Island Wave Lemonade which consisted of fruit found in Hawaii-pineapple, guava, and mango!

Well I hope you enjoyed this week’s theme! Comment below if you have ever tries geocaching before and what you think if it!
