Apparently every ten years, Kyrie‘s Birthday falls on Memorial Day and due to this, we decided to combine the two and have birthday party and a themed movie/dinner. She is really into foxes these days and wants everything fox. So that is what she got- a fox themed birthday dinner and movie! Our birthday fairy stopped by and decorated the house with a few fox decorations and made the day even more special. There were only like 3 movie options that we could choose from and knowing Kyrie she would cry through the Fox and the Hound, so we went with The Fantastic Mr.Fox. The movie kept them engaged, but it has dry humor that the girls didn’t always get. Overall, the theme was FANTASTIC and Kyrie enjoyed it!

When planning for this themed, we thought what do foxes eat? So we went to the 10 year old girl who knows all about foxes and got the answer: meat, veggies and fruit. So that is exactly what we had- chicken, veggies and watermelon! The girls love all, so it was a win. Plus we had the grandparents over and it was easy to feed everyone too!

I was envisioning a drink that would resemble the orange/red color that foxes are and I think I nailed it. We called it our Gray Fox Martini after our very own birthday girl! I couldn’t find blood orange anything at the store, so we had to improvise. We used OJ, triple Sec, vodka and some cherry juice to get that color. The girls drink was OJ, sprite, cherry juice and some cherries. The color turned out exactly what I was envisioning.

The dessert for this themed was my favorite part! Tyler and I are in no way bakers, but doing these themed dinners, we have come a long way and out of our comfort zone. Kyrie loves pumpkin flavored baked goods, so we thought a pumpkin cake would be a good idea for a fox theme. The cake was made from scratch and delicious- I think the best cake we have ever made. We decided on doing a cream cheese frosting which was also made from scratch and also turned out delicious. To decorate the top, we dyed some of the icing different oranges/reds, a green and gray. I outlined the fox face, but Tyler and I worked together to have a random assortment of fox colors with the orange/reds. Then added the eyes and nose and viola a fox! The most important thing is Kyrie will hopefully always remember her 10th Fox Birthday!

Thanks again for joining on our theme fox friends! Comment below what you thought of this theme. Tell me if there are any more fox movies that my 10 year old would like!
