We know this movie has been done and done again in so many ways, but we were surprised how much we enjoyed the new Cinderella movie with Camila Cabello! It had a modern day approach with most of the characters, including the evil stepmother. Plus there was good music throughout. I do highly recommend the movie! The theme for this also turned fun as we had only a little help from our fairy godmother. So let’s get to it.

I went off the picture in the movie advertisement and it looked to be that the color of Cinderellas dress was more ombré purple than blue like in previous versions, so I was trying to do that for both the drink and the dessert that you will see later on. But after watching the actual movie, the dress is neither blue nor the ombré purple but white. So I missed the mark on that completely. Since I was going for purple, I bought this butterfly pea flower tea that is supposed to turn drinks purple (And I learned later that it need something acidic for that to happen). So we soaked the tea leaves in coconut milk for our pina colada drink and it didn’t turn purple, but a light blue. If I was going for the OG Disney version, it would have worked perfectly. Regardless though our blue version of the pina colada drink turned out delicious and we did have it where the blue was on the bottom and white on type to try and get the ombré look we were going for. We used normal ingredients, coconut milk dyed with the blue pea flower tea, coconut rum, pineapple and some fresh lime juice. For the girls we omitted the rum, but Kyrie dislikes coconut so didn’t like the drink anyways. Oh well!

The famous pumpkin turned into carriage in most versions was altered a bit in this movie to use a trunk instead(they did ply homage to the pumpkin though). So again we went off what we know from other movies and incorporated pumpkin in our theme. I made very yummy pumpkin cupcakes along with purple (again going off what I thought the color of Cinderella’s dress was) cream cheese frosting. I found some glass slipper toppers from Amazon and used that as my decoration! We all devoured them, so good!

As I mention, there was still a carriage in this movie, so we used that to inspire the dinner and had Carriage Chili. We picked up some sourdough bread bowls, created a carriage out of it, then filled it with some homemade chili. The wheels of the carriage didn’t turn out exactly how I envisioned, but it worked. Also the girls didn’t want the bread bowl altogether, so they just had chili in a bowl! The chili turned out to be the perfect meal for a fall evening as it was a little cooler for us in AZ this weekend!

This was super simple themed dinner that can be replicated with or without the pea flower tea! comment below what you thought of the new movie!
