Tyler and I both grew up on this show and loved watching it. Just thinking about it, the catchy theme song gets stuck in my head....Chip, Chip,, Chip Chip and Dale Ressscccue Rangers. Anyways, when we saw Disney was making this into a movie, we knew we had to do it as a theme. The story picks up 30 years later with Chip, Dale and the rest of the Rescue Rangers have had a falling out, but they have to come together when one mysteriously disappears. They live among both humans and cartoons in this new adaption as well, which is different from the 80s cartoon. The other interesting part about the movie is that they had Chip still drawn, like an old cartoon, and Dale as having received the CGI operation. The movie was good and very entertaining, and the girls seemed to enjoy it.

We thought for a whole two minutes on the main meal for this theme and the dinner portion is usually the hardest part of these. In the show, one of the Rescue Rangers, who is a mouse, is named Monterey Jack, like the cheese. So immediately we thought of Monterey Jack Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. To make them more sophisticated for the adults, we added some grilled onions and peppers as well as bacon. However, Kyrie only likes them the way her grandmother makes them, so we had to figure out this secret method. Once we learned the way, we did exactly that and they were made to perfection!

Our drink was called Dale's Delight! It consisted of both a dark rum and a light rum, Grand Carrone (which is an orange liquor) and then to make it a little nutty, some amaretto. To top it off (and make it look like Dale's nose), a maraschino cherry was added. The girls drink consisted of some iced tea, sprite, a splash of orange juice and some almond flavoring that is used in baking. It was also topped off with a cherry as well! Overall, a very delicious drink and successful for both adults and kids!

Since both Chip and Dale are chipmunks, we had to go the obvious route for dessert and make it a little nutty, so we went with a pecan pie. However, I wanted a little different one than the original, so I searched for a recipe and found a creamy pecan pie on togetherasfamily.com . It was a no bake except for the crust and consisted of heavy whipping cream, cream cheese, brown sugar, powdered sugar, maple syrup and pecans. It was actually really good, but my kids have an aversion to cream cheese, so they would barely take a bit! If you want something different from the traditional pecan pie, this is the way to go.

Thanks again for stopping by and reading the blog! I really had fun with this one and love when I am satisfied with the ideas for the dinner, drinks and dessert turn out well. Also comment below what you thought of the new movie.
