There are a ton of movies we could have chosen for a Valentine’s Love theme. Including pretty much any Disney Princess (not including princesses that are also daughters of the chief) would classify. But instead we decided on a movie that kept popping up on Netflix called Charming, which instead of the Princess trying to find true love to break a curse it is a Prince. The movie also still had Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella, so it wasn’t totally devoid of the Disney made famous princesses. The girls enjoyed it, I think more than the adults did.

This was a hard one to come up with an idea, but thankfully we now have friends that know of our weekly Theme Dinner Night and provide ideas. One of Tyler’s work buddies (Nick) gave us the idea for this weeks of Cursed Curds Poutine. Since curds are apparently not common, the grocery store we use didn’t have them in stock. I didn’t really want to hunt around for curds a la the shark gummies during Shark Week, so we ended up buying from a local restaurant. The girls ended up eating the fries and the carne asada that we got, but not the gravy nor the cheese curds. Tyler and I however, love poutine and gobbled it up!

What is more associated with love and Valentine’s Day than roses? Nothing, duh! So we decided on making apple rose tarts. We have made these a couple times before and they always turn out good, sort of like a rose apple pie. We still had a puff pastry from a few weeks ago and all we needed were the apples, making it an easy addition to the meal. Tyler cut the apple slices super thin, added some spice mix, and they were rolled up in the pastry to create the roses. Girls enjoyed them!

We decided on making our own Love Potion for this theme. It was basically our homemade Sangria. Tyler worked the day before with juicing our own oranges and limes. Arizona is known for citrus and well we get plenty from family, so why not put it to good use. For the girls, we picked up small bottles of different juices- cranberry, apple, orange and let them create their own fruit punch. We also added some fresh fruit to their drinks!

I was really wanting to make these shortbread jam cookies in the shape of a heart that I saw in a magazine recently. But then after how much time it took to do the groundhog cookies the week before, I jumped at the opportunity to hit the easy button and buy the exact cookie when I happened to come across them at Trader Joe’s. Everyone loved them and they looked super cute!

Thanks for joining along again and comment below what you would watch for a Valentine’s Day Theme!
