Three of the four household members enjoy Marvel and Superheroes. So when Loki finally debuted, we were super excited to watch it. And of course we made it into a theme dinner! This was fun to do some planning on and we only decided again a couple days before. Since Loki was raised Asgardian, which mimics Norwegian culture, we thought that would be fun! I will get into the details in a moment, but let’s talk about the show. We love it! it continues with Loki‘s deviousness and witty humor just like in the previous movies. The Thor movies are one of my favorites in the Marvel series and I am glad that they were able to continue with a Loki story.

The girls are enrolled in a summer sports class and it falls on Saturdays right now. So after their class, we immediately went swimming in our pool with the 120 degrees heat we are having. So we made an appetizer as I new they were going to be hungry after all that. We took crescent rolls and shaped them into Loki’s horns. There were some with or without cheese depending on who was eating them! They turned out fun and were devoured. Next time, to make the ones with cheese more cheesy, I would use a mozzarell cheese stick and wrapped the roll around the cheese. But still it did what we wanted it to do!

As I mentioned before, we decided on Norwegian cuisine. After doing some research, I settled on The God of Mischief (Norwegian) Meatballs! They were easy to make, but not sure if they were the girls favorite. They had a unique flavor of cinnamon and spices in the recipe that you can easily taste. I used the recipe from https://wanderzestblog.com/norwegian-meatballs/ and also made the creamy gravy! I paired it with my homemade mashed potatoes. Tyler and I enjoyed them and the recipe resulted in about 36 meatballs, so there were a lot!

If you are familiar with Loki from the Avenger movies- he is usually represented in the color green and gold. So we wanted to do something with that. After spending too much time at Total Wine, Tyler found a Absolute Apple, which I kid you not had this as the description on the bottle “Inspired by the yellow, red and gold days of the Swedish Fall! Perfect, right!? So we mixed that with some Sparkling wine and we had ourselves a Lokitini! For the girls, it was sparkling apple cider with a touch of apple juice. We added a drop of green dye to get that color. On the cups the girls had originally had, we sprayed the edible gold I had and it looked cool, but it ended up getting all over their fingers. So it got transferred into basic cups. Even though we are in 120 degree heat, this drink still made me cozy!

So we didn’t end up eating the dessert I had planned for the evening as we ate super late. We instead had it for breakfast the following day and they were amazing! We made for our first time Swedish Pancakes which are very similar to crepes. The girls were to try it with the raspberry jam before moving onto the Nutella, but surprise surprise they liked the Nutella better. I will say these are super easy to make and the jam and real raspberries were fantastic! We will be making these again in the near future. I highly recommend trying them if you haven’t already.

Hope you enjoyed the Loki themed dinner! We enjoyed it especially the Swedish pancakes and maybe have made them a coupe of times since then! Let me know what you thought of the Loki series.
