50 First Dates

Updated: Aug 22, 2021

We decided on doing an Adam Sandler weekend moviethon. He had so many movies in the 90s and who didn’t watch his movies. They were cheesy, yet entertaining. The girls love Bedtime Stories and even though we have already seen it, they can watch that one over and over. This was the Friday night movie and set the weekend up perfectly. Saturday was the actual theme dinner and we watched 50 First Dates. Tyler and I have always enjoyed this movie and the girls did as well. Then to cap the weekend off, we watched Big Daddy on Sunday.

In the movie, Henry (Adam Sandler) meets Lucy (Drew Barrymore) and falls in love with her, bite she has short term memory loss. Throughout the movie he has to remind her and make her fall in love with him everyday. The movie is cute and has some funny parts the girls enjoyed. So to stick with the idea of forgetting, we made Mind Eraser- yup just like the ones you had in college!! Ours included kahlua, vodka and some sparkling water. To keep it looking the same, the girls had root beer, which they always love! Also I am not sure what they are doing in these pictures below- maybe playing the part and forgetting what just happened.

So some of the scenes repeat but changes slightly since it is always a new day as she keeps forgetting. The one place they frequently ”meet” at is the Hukilau Cafe where they have different versions of breakfast and Lucy is usually making waffle houses. So for dinner we made our own chocolate chip waffle houses! The girls loved being able to make their own houses especially since they don’t always get to play with their food. Since the girls had chocolate chip waffles for dinner, we didn’t have any dessert for this theme. But if we did do it, I would have done Peanut Butter cups as Henry as it comes up in the movie multiple times.

Along with the waffle houses, we made“Spam” and eggs (it was really chopped up bacon) to level out the sugary meal. In the movie Adam‘s character gets Spam and eggs at the restaurant. We also had a pineapple since Lucy gives a pineapple to her dads for his birthday which is the day they repeat everyday in the movie.

Thanks again for joining us on this theme dinner! Comment below what is your your favorite Adam Sandler movie. There are quite a bit we could have done, but not all are appropriate for the girls.
